Conference starts soon!

We're in the last few days before the conference starts and it's really getting exciting now. A couple of welcomes: the Queensland Health department has just registered 75 new delegates! It's really great to see governments recognising and sponsoring the on-going education of its health-care professionals. Also, welcome to Nathalie Clermont who was an attendee from last year's GOLD conference, and is this year's first South American delegate, so finally every continent is represented! That truly is a great effort to be able to spread all the great information so far around the world.

If you haven't signed up for the conference yet, what are you waiting for?! Thirty-two international speakers over 11 days, online discussion forums, and 21 CERPs (and Contact Hours) available, and you don't even have to leave home! If you want to see some of our presentations for free before you register, head over to the Pre-conference presentations page. To register, go to the online registration page and you can be online with us in minutes!

How does an online conference work?

Well, it has all the same features as a face-to-face conference except it is all online. Instead of travelling to the conference venue, you simply go to the conference website. Instead of calling at the registration desk, you enter your username and password to enter the conference rooms.

When you wish to listen to a speaker, you click on the room and you will see their slides and hear them as they deliver their presentation. You can type in a question for the speaker to answer at the end of their presentation, and you can even chat to friends and colleagues who are also at the conference.

Why should I attend an online conference?

There are many advantages - costs for a start. There are no travel, accommodation or meal costs. Time savings is another because of travel. Speakers' presentations are recorded so you can never miss a presentation. Better communication with the speakers means that you can put questions to them during and after the presentation. .. and of course.. an online conference is a environmentally friendly event, so you are contributing to saving our planet at the same time.
