A gemstone is a piece of attractive mineral, which, when cut and polished, is used to make jewelry or other adornments. However certain rocks, (such as lapis-lazuli) and organic materials (such as amber or jet) are not minerals, but are still used for jewelry, and are therefore often considered to be gemstones as well.
Gemstones have been given astrological connotations for centuries. Horoscopes are often looked up before advising a person with a gemstone. However, these days, gemstones are used to accentuate gold jewellery. They give pure gold designs that extra edge. In fact, gold studded with diamonds or gemstones are becoming more popular than pure gold. It is becoming a rage with the younger generations.
Light gemstone jewellery can be worn with practically any dress. Be it evening wear or party dresses, a gemstone studded gold jewellery can make stand out. It gives an elegant touch to the overall makeup.
A method of electroforming gold jewelry articles utilizes a first gold/silver electroforming bath which is effective for depositing a relatively soft, ductile gold alloy. A second gold/silver electroforming bath is effective for depositing a hard, brittle gold alloy.
Prior to the electroforming steps, the method includes the preliminary steps of forming a wax mandrel in a desired configuration, inserting a copper wire into the mandrel and applying a conductive lacquer onto the mandrel. The electroforming method includes the steps of alternately immersing the mandrel into the first and second electroforming baths. This electroforms alternating layers of the soft and hard gold alloys over each other to form a laminated gold shell. After the last layer has been electroformed, the wax mandrel is melted and removed from the laminated gold shell thereby forming a hollow jewelry article. The alternating soft and hard layers cooperate to relieve internal stresses within the metal. This forms a very strong and resilient metal shell. Since the laminated structure of the shell is stronger than a conventional electroformed shell, the thickness of the laminated gold shell can be reduced. This makes the finished article less expensive than a conventional gold shell.
Gold jewelry never goes out of style, and for good reason, because gold is as wearer-friendly as it is beautiful. Pure gold doesn’t react with other elements to create tarnish.
You’ll find examples of pure gold jewelry, but pure gold is soft and isn’t practical for daily wear. Other metals are mixed with it to make it more durable. Women are drawn to jewelry that offers a unique and timeless look of style. Sensual 14k gold is accented with sparkling diamonds. Exquisite gold bracelets express sophistication, elegance. Gold lockets and gold slides bring ordinary jewelry to life creating a truly extraordinary piece of women’s gold jewelry.
Men’s jewelry is revolutionizing the fashion industry with a rugged and handsome collection of gold men’s accessories. For a distinctive and successful look men’s bracelets are a must have for every man. You’ll leave a lasting impression when you add a striking gold rings to your handshake.
